Privacy Policy

SanatanIQ is made by Wharf Street Studios Limited (“we”, “us”), Level 39, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AB, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

This policy covers the SanatanIQ apps for iOS and Android, the SanatanIQ web app, and this website, sanataniq.com (together, “SanatanIQ”). For any privacy question or request, write to admin@wharfstreetstudios.com.

When you create an account

Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you add them. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.

What you choose to add

• A short bio, and how Krishna should address you (Parth, Sakhi or Bhakt).
• Your language and the city used for your Panchang.

How you use SanatanIQ

• Reading progress, bookmarks, completed lessons and quiz results.
• Japa counts, streaks, badges, milestones and daily challenges, and a log of these activities.

Ask Krishna

The questions you ask and the answers you receive are saved to your account so you can return to them. If you report an answer, we keep the report and the reported text so we can review it.

Subscriptions

If you subscribe to SanatanIQ Pro, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive your subscription status and history through RevenueCat, linked to your account ID. We never see your card details.

Contributions

If you contribute through our Ko-fi page, Ko-fi and PayPal process the payment and share with us the name, email address and message you give them, and the amount. We use these only to thank you and keep our accounts. We never see your card details.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token to send festival reminders and similar messages.

Diagnostics

When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry with technical details such as device model, operating system and app version. We configure these reports to strip names, email addresses and other personal data.

Without an account

If you use SanatanIQ as a guest, your progress and preferences stay on your device and are not sent to us.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your precise location, contacts or browsing history. On Android, the app does not request the advertising ID. The only photo we receive is one you choose as your profile picture.

• To provide SanatanIQ (performing our contract with you): your account, syncing progress across devices, answering your questions, and reminders you asked for.
• To keep SanatanIQ safe and working (our legitimate interests): fixing crashes, preventing abuse, enforcing daily question limits, and reviewing reported answers.
• To manage subscriptions (performing our contract with you).
• With your consent: notifications, and personalised ads if we ever show them. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app or your device settings.
• To meet legal obligations, such as keeping transaction records.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Ask Krishna uses Google's Gemini API to write answers from passages of the Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and other texts. To do this, we send Google your question and your chosen language. We do not send your name, email address or other account details with it. Google processes this data under its terms for the Gemini API.

Please don't include sensitive personal information in your questions. Answers are generated by AI and can be wrong.

SanatanIQ does not currently show ads. The app includes Google's AdMob software so that optional rewarded ads can be introduced later. If we do, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it before any ad loads, and we will update this policy first. SanatanIQ Pro members will never see ads.

We share personal data only with providers that help us run SanatanIQ, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

• Clerk: sign-in and account management.
• Google: Sign in with Google, the Gemini API for Ask Krishna, and, if introduced, AdMob.
• Amazon Web Services: servers and file storage.
• Neon: our database.
• Sentry: crash and error reports.
• RevenueCat: subscription management.
• Ko-fi and PayPal: payments for voluntary contributions.
• Expo: delivery of push notifications.
• Apple and Google: app distribution and in-app payments.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

Our providers store and process data in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the EU, we rely on adequacy decisions or on standard contractual clauses (with the UK addendum) to protect it.

We keep your account data, including progress and Ask Krishna conversations, for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account and the data linked to it from our systems. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.

Reports you made about AI answers may be kept without your identity so we can keep reviewing content. Crash reports are kept by Sentry for up to 90 days. We keep subscription records for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy in a portable format;
• correct it, most of which you can do yourself in Edit Profile;
• delete it. You can delete your account at any time in Settings, then Delete Account, or by following the steps on our account deletion page;
• object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw any consent you gave.

These rights apply under the UK and EU GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and US state privacy laws such as California's. To make a request, write to admin@wharfstreetstudios.com. We will reply within one month, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority. We would be grateful for the chance to put things right first.

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is limited to people who need it. Account credentials are held on your device in secure storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law requires it.

SanatanIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for a short time for security.

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
